Welcome to Pay Theory — where possibilities meet progress! Our journey began with a simple yet transformative vision: to make digital commerce accessible to everyone, regardless of their banking status. We recognized that unbanked and underbanked individuals faced hurdles in participating in the digital economy, particularly when it came to making online payments. This disparity erected barriers, particularly in essential areas like Education and Healthcare.
Today, we stand proud as Pay Theory, an embodiment of inclusivity and innovation. Our groundbreaking payments platform dismantles obstacles that once stood between crucial service providers and the communities they serve. Through a seamless, elegant, and impactful range of financial solutions, we're not just leveling the playing field — we're revolutionizing it.
If you're someone who relishes the excitement of building something from the ground up — chaos and all — then you're exactly the kind of talent we're seeking to join our dynamic team. As a rapidly growing startup in the payments sector, we're on a mission to reshape the industry landscape. We're not just a company; we're a closely-knit, vibrant family of dedicated individuals who work hard and enjoy the journey together.
Are you ready to bring your creative spark to our collaborative table? At Pay Theory, we foster an ego-free zone where every voice matters. If you're ready to make a real impact, we're ready to welcome you aboard. Let's talk!
This role is hybrid-remote and requires you to be based in the greater Cincinnati or Columbus, Ohio metro area. We collaborate in person regularly, and proximity to the team matters. Please only apply if you currently live in or are planning to relocate to one of these areas.
You live at the intersection of engineering and customer experience. You're the kind of person who gets excited about helping a developer get their first successful API call, and equally excited about digging into webhook logs to track down a failed ACH return. You're technically sharp — comfortable reading code, querying data, and navigating APIs — but what really sets you apart is your ability to translate complex payment concepts into clear, actionable guidance for partners.
You thrive in a fast-paced environment where no two days look the same. One morning you might be architecting a recurring billing integration with a new partner, and by the afternoon you're building a Postman collection to streamline onboarding for the next one. You're a builder at heart — not just solving problems but creating tools and processes that prevent them from happening again.
Support partners and merchants through integration. You'll be the primary point of contact for partners building on Pay Theory's platform — guiding them through API and SDK integration, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring they can move from sandbox to production confidently.
Own inbound technical support. You'll triage and resolve support tickets covering transactions, refunds, ACH returns, settlement questions, recurring payments, and more. You'll dig into GraphQL queries, webhook logs, and transaction data to get partners unblocked quickly.
Solution engineering for new integrations. You'll work closely with new partners to understand their payment workflows and help architect how Pay Theory fits into their stack — whether that's hosted fields, server-side tokenization, recurring billing, or split payment configurations.
Build out support tooling and resources. You'll create and maintain internal tools, Postman collections, code samples, and documentation that make both your job and our partners' lives easier.
Collaborate cross-functionally. You'll partner with Product and Engineering to surface integration pain points, advocate for partner needs, and help shape the developer experience around our APIs and SDKs.
Manage ongoing partner relationships. You'll run regular syncs with active integration partners, proactively communicate platform updates or outages, and ensure partners have what they need through go-live and beyond.
We will discuss compensation in our first interview. Our range is $65-75k salary with benefits. This will vary depending on your experience and skills. We often build a scaling plan based on goals and skill development.
